Start your morning in My Work

When you finish this routine, you know what is late, what is due today and what comes next. Your timer is running on the first task. It takes about five minutes each morning. My Work is the screen that lists the open tasks assigned to you, grouped by due date.

Ana is a freelancer with three clients. At nine she opens My Work in the bakery app workspace. One task is overdue, so she moves its due date to Thursday. Two are due today. She adds "call the hotel about photos" to her to-dos, with a reminder at two. Then she presses Start timer on the first bakery task.

What you need

Steps

1. Open My Work

Press G on a Mac, or tap My Work on a phone. At the top, three numbers count your Overdue, Today and This week tasks.

2. Clear Overdue

Open each task under Overdue. These were due before today. Finish it, give it a new due date, or hand it to someone else. The list gets shorter as you go.

3. Read Today

Read the Today list. These tasks are due today, with the most urgent one first.

4. Look at This week

Look at This week, which runs until Sunday. If today is light, pull one task forward by moving its due date to today. Later and No date can wait.

5. Add your to-dos

At the top, under My todos, type into Add a todo… and press Enter. Add the small things that are not tasks, like "renew the domain". Only you can see this list.

6. Set a reminder

Press the bell on a to-do, Remind me, and pick a time. If that time has passed today, the reminder is for tomorrow. When it is due, a window offers Done, Snooze 10 min and Dismiss.

7. Start the timer on your first task

Open the first task you will work on and press Start timer. The clock starts counting. Track time with the timer has the details.

Check that it works

Overdue reads zero, or each overdue task has a new date. The to-dos you need today have a time next to them. The first task shows a running clock.

Done to-dos stay on the list with a line through them. Press Clear done to sweep them away. Your to-dos follow you when you switch workspace. They are the same in every workspace, and they belong only to you.

Questions people ask

Can I see all my clients' work in one list?

No. My Work shows one workspace at a time. Switch workspace to see the next client. Your to-dos are the one list that stays the same everywhere.

Who can see my to-dos?

Only you. A to-do is not a task. It has no project, and nobody else in any workspace can see it.

Can a to-do repeat every day?

No. devBoard has no repeating tasks or to-dos. Add it again the next morning, or set a new reminder.
