My Work
My Work is the list of tasks assigned to you that are not done yet. It is the screen the app opens on. It is for anyone who wants to start the day with one list, not a tour of every board.
How it works
Your open tasks are sorted into five groups by due date:
| Group | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Overdue | Due before today |
| Today | Due today |
| This week | Due after today, up to Sunday |
| Later | Due after this week |
| No date | No due date set |
Today means the current calendar day. A task due tomorrow stays in This week until the day changes.
In each group, the soonest due date comes first. Two tasks due the same day are sorted by priority. Above the groups, three counts show how many tasks are overdue, due today and due this week. Done, cancelled and archived tasks are left out. So are tasks that are not yours.
My Work covers one workspace at a time. If you work for three clients in three workspaces, you switch to see each list.
Next to your tasks sits a private to-do list. It is for small things that are not tasks, like "send the invoice". Nobody else can see it. It is not tied to a workspace, so it stays with you when you switch. Set a reminder on a to-do, and it pops up at that time. You can mark it done, snooze it for ten minutes or dismiss it.
On a Mac, press G from any screen to jump to My Work. The keyboard page lists the other keys.
An example: Ana
Ana is a freelancer with three clients. Each client has its own workspace. At nine she opens devBoard on her Mac. It lands on My Work in the bakery app workspace. One task is overdue and two are due today. She starts with the late one and starts its timer.
Before lunch she switches to the hotel site workspace. Its My Work shows one task due this week. Her to-do list still says "Send the clinic a quote", with a reminder at three. At three it pops up, in whatever workspace she has open.
What it does not do
- It does not mix your workspaces into one list. Each workspace has its own My Work. See one workspace per client.
- It does not show tasks you made for someone else. A saved view with "created by is me" does that.
- To-dos are not tasks. They have no project, status or history. They also do not sync live. Another device picks them up when you open My Work.
- On a Mac, a to-do reminder only pops up while the app is open.
Set it up
There is nothing to set up. Assign tasks to yourself, or ask your team to. Then read how to use My Work every morning. Or see all devBoard features.
Questions people ask
Can I see tasks from all my workspaces in one list?
No. My Work shows one workspace at a time. Switch workspaces to see the next list. Your private to-dos are the exception. They follow you everywhere.
Why is a task missing from My Work?
It is done, cancelled, archived or not assigned to you. My Work only shows open tasks with your name on them.
Do to-do reminders work when the app is closed?
On iPhone and Android, yes. The phone shows a notice at the time you set. On a Mac, the reminder pops up while the app is open.
